Capacity Building for Agricultural Technical Staff on the NAVCDP Project and PICD Plan

In preparation for the roll out and implementation of the NAVCDP project within the county, the County Government of Nandi, through with the Department of Agriculture and Co-operatives Development, is undertaking Capacity Building sessions for County Agricultural Technical and Extension staff from various directorates across sub-counties. The sessions are focused on familiarizing the staff with the upcoming Participatory Integrated Community Development (PICD) Plan, which will be held at ward levels.

Through the NAVCDP project, the department aims to carry out a PICD exercise across all 30 wards in the county with a view of raising awareness among farmers about the NAVCDP project, initiate community discussions to identify agricultural challenges hindering commercialization, propose interventions or solutions, and strategize on addressing these identified challenges effectively.

Additionally, the PICD process will convene farmers in entry meetings countywide to form community led institutions at the ward level that contribute to development within their respective areas.

The NAVCDP project spans five years and is geared towards increasing market participation and value addition for targeted farmers in select value chains across Nandi County. It will prioritize support for five key value chains: Dairy, Poultry, Avocado, Coffee, and Irish Potatoes.

During the official opening of the training by the Chief Officer for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Dr. Paul Sanga at KAIMOSI AGRICULTURAL TRAINING CENTRE. In attendance were the centre director Dr. Levy Kachilei and CPC NAVCDP Jared Mutai. #ContinueTransformation #KilimoBiashara
